Bulk Coffee for Roasters

We offer bulk green bean 100% Kona coffee for roasting companies and coffee shops. Roasters can now order on the web and receive one-hundred pound burlap bags of our single-Estate 100% Kona green bean directly from the farm in Captain Cook, Hawaii.

This truly exceptional, award-winning Kona coffee is grown on the slopes of Mauna Loa, picked by hand and processed on the farm. It is milled and graded and then certified by the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture.

Owner-farmers Jonathan and Nancy Sechrist are fully committed to the freshness and quality of the Kona coffee they grow. The Hawaii State certification paperwork is included.

Samples Policy

We, as a relatively small farm, are not able to provide free samples of our green bean. If you would like to sample our green bean before making a commitment to a larger bulk order, we suggest purchasing one or more of our 16 ounce bags. If you subsequently place an order for 100 pounds or more, we will credit you the cost of the samples.

All Green Kona Coffee Must Be Certified

Did you know that the State of Hawaii requires that all green coffee in excess of 10 pounds that is transported out of the Kona District must be certified by the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture?

Certification is your guarantee that the coffee you buy is really grown in Kona and meets the grading standards set forth by the state.

When the 100% Kona green bean has been dry-milled and graded, it is placed in 100 pound burlap bags and sewn shut. That seam also includes a certification tag. The inspectors from the Department of Agriculture sample the bags using a probe and make a note of the lot sizes and the identification on the bags. They take these samples back to their office and inspect it for color and defects. They verify the bean size matches the appropriate grade and they also roast and cup the coffee to make sure it meets state standards.

If the coffee passes the certification, the tags on the burlap bags get an official stamp and each lot is assigned a number. The owner of the coffee is supplied with this information on papers that are similarly stamped.

All Kona coffee growers should be able to produce a paper trail on where and how their coffee has been picked, processed, milled and certified.

For a one-page summary of the green coffee standards, see this publication from the Hawaii Department of Agriculture's web site.
