What's
New! (November
5, 2003)
Harvesting
of our 2003 crop is well underway. The coffee cherry ripened a little
early this year due to the warm dry weather. We hand-picked the
early rounds in July ourselves and the quality looks terrific. We
expect the harvest to run through the end of the year with a final
round in early January.
The
picking crew has already harvested over 33,000 pounds of cherry.
All of our coffee that we sell has been wet-milled by hand by us
to insure the highest quality of the coffee going into the dry-milling
and roasting stages.
We
have proudly entered our hand-processed estate coffee into the cupping
competition of the Kona Coffee Festival. In addition, our label
and website are competing in their respective categories at the
festival. Be sure to visit Keauhou Shopping Center on Sunday, November
9th to sample coffee and view the labels. This is your opportunity
to vote for the People's Choice awards given to the most popular
coffee and label.
We
will have Makahiki Farms logo bistro mugs available by mid-November.
These will be great additions to our 100% Kona Estate coffee for
your own enjoyment or holiday gift giving!
